STREETLITE BRINGS FRESH THINKING AND A NEW LEVEL OF TECHNOLOGY TO THE MIDI BUS MARKET

Release to: Coach Journals
Date: July 2010
Title: Streetlite brings fresh thinking and a new level of technology to the midi bus market

The Wright Group has today (Wednesday 30th June) launched a totally new midi bus - the Wrightbus StreetLite. The new vehicle was officially unveiled at a prestigious event in Ballymena, attended by many high profile guests and stakeholders.
Designed and built in Northern Ireland by the Wright Group, StreetLite brings new thinking and a new level of technology and innovation to the small bus market. It gives bus and coach operators an exciting new midi bus for a wide range of applications, from a manufacturer with a proven pedigree and a market leading aftermarket support infrastructure.
A new member of the family
StreetLite shares the distinctive Wrightbus product family look, taking many of the styling cues from the
groundbreaking StreetCar. As well as the signature Wrightbus windscreen shape and extensive side
glazing, a full sized rear window complements the exterior styling as well as adding to the light and airy
feel of the passenger area.
There are also a number of practical features incorporated into StreetLite’s design which are focused on
minimising whole life operating costs. For example, the headlamps are positioned outside of the impact
zone and there is a one piece bumper below the front grill for easy replacement.
StreetLite is available in two main configurations, one with the door located behind the front axle (“Wheel
Forward”) and one with the door ahead of the front wheel (“Door Forward”). Each configuration, in turn,
has two length options (8.8/9.5m and 10.2/10.8m), which have been specifically chosen to optimise
interior layout and seating capacity across the range.
Small but smart
The project team at the Wright Group have been able to take a totally new approach to the design of StreetLite. The result is a “next generation” midi bus that offers more seats than any other vehicle in its class without sacrificing durability or safety.
It features a tried and tested driveline, a totally new Independent Front Suspension system and innovative use of composite materials in this weight and value sensitive segment of the market. StreetLite is also the first vehicle of its kind to be certified to European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval
and ECE Regulation 107.
Importantly for demanding bus and coach operators, every StreetLite comes with the commitment and support that only Wright Customcare can deliver right through the vehicle’s operational lifetime.
Working in partnership with Mistral (UK) plc, the UK’s leading bus rental and sales specialist, StreetLite will also be readily available with a range of flexible finance solutions to own, lease or rent.
We will have a full report in the next edition of Buszone out next month.
